I'm starting this blog over again. Here's the new intro:
Hiya!
Welcome to my journal. I thought I would say a little bit about myself and why I decided to start this particular journal.
So
a little about me. I'm thirty-six years old, and I live in a small
community in Alberta, Canada. I live with my two black kittens, Beau
and Ruby, and my significant other Brad.
I started this journal
to keep track of a course I will start taking on 01 January 2016. I'm
hoping that perhaps I will finally find something that I won't
completely suck at and finally be able to say I actually finished
something!
I started out with going to university but could only
finish one semester because I got seriously sick. I have Cystic
Fibrosis, and up until then I had been pretty healthy. I had spent some
time in the hospital at the ages of ten and seventeen but other than
that had been pretty healthy. My parents had never discouraged me to
try new things and I was excited to start university, but then my health
went south fast and I was put on the transplant list.
I was
lucky and I got my double lung transplant 14 October 2015. When I
recovered I decided to try going back to college and did a
administrative assistant. But guess, what, school is an amazing place
for germs, and because I am now immunosuppressed and I ended up getting
sick again. Not the kind of sick I got before the transplant, but I
still ended up in the hospital. I couldn't finish that course either.
After
a string of jobs that required dealing with the public, my lung
function is now at fifty percent. I decided that rather than waste
whatever function I had left getting sick, I decided I should probably
try to keep myself as healthy as possible and do all the stuff I really
wanted to do. For example, last year I got to go Europe, something I
had been dreaming of doing since I was thirteen. I'm lucky enough to get
a small allowance from the government for the disabled and the next
thing on my list is to finish that project.
My hopes is to
perhaps get it published, but my true goal is to learn how to write
properly. Of course, there are no "proper" way of writing, but when you
have no idea what you're doing and you live in a small community,
online courses are usually your best bet. At least for me.
Until 01 January, there will be filler. Oh, so much filler.
Cheers
