Dear Me,
There really is not much to talk about today. I mentioned before the week between Christmas Day and New Year's Day is kind of a quiet time for most people I know.
Perhaps it's a time we should use to contemplate how the last year went and what we should be thankful for this year. I realize that is what Thanksgiving is for, but it's always nice to think about the good stuff that happened, to remind one's self that even though the bad sticks out more, more often than not, there WERE some positives. I'm going to try to think of ten and I may be repeating myself, but then again it might stick in my memory better :).
The Blessed Events of 2015
1. I Moved Out of my Parent's House:
There is a great big story behind this, that I don't really want to get into but suffice to say, health reasons are why I've lived with my parents for a huge chunk of my life and I was finally able to leave the nest this year.
2. I Bought a Car:
My parent's old car, but still, it's mine. Paid in full.
3. I Adopted Two Cats:
I've always wanted to get a rescue pet and now we have two. Ruby and Beau are the biggest blessings in the world. We adopted Beau the very next day when we moved in and adopted Ruby so that Beau would have a buddy. They both turned out to be sweet and affectionate cats and I'm thrilled to bits with them.
4. My Fiancee Got a New Job:
This one is pretty self explanatory. But the job is better, he can take his truck home (which means I get to use the car now) and the pay is better. Not by much, but a little better.
5. My Health is Pretty Steady:
Though I'm in a constant state of anxiety over it, my health is ok.
6. My Relationships are Happy:
Yep, I'm starting to reach, but I have a good relationship with everyone I know. I think, unless they're not telling me something.
7. I Started Reading Fiction Again:
Again, pretty self explanatory AND reaching but it's still a positive. Is it bad that I'm having trouble thinking up ten things to be happy about this year?
8. My Best Friend Has a New Boyfriend AND Graduated From Her Residency Program:
It didn't happen to me but I'm just so thrilled for her. She seems so happy.
9. Another Friend Got a Job Promotion;
Something she'd been wanting for quite a long time.
10. Still Another Friend Has Started Her Master's:
Which is super exciting!
So, that's the positives of 2015. Yay!
